Situated in Carolina in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, Metfocus has the services and facilities of a fully equipped metallographic laboratory, capable of undertaking and conducting all the types and varieties of metallurgical failures and investigations.
We have a fully equipped sample preparation workshop where we prepare samples and test pieces varying in size from small to large. We have six optical metallurgical microscopes that are utilized on site and in our laboratory.
Our mobility sets us apart from our competitors as we are able to take the laboratory services to the client or on site. We specialize and have extensive experience in the conducting of In-Situ Metallographic Replication (Replicas), especially on steam boilers, pressure vessels and welded main steam lines.
Over and above our general metallurgical consulting services, clients have come to rely on us for undertaking component manufacturing approvals, welding consultancy, corrosion failures, advising on all the material aspects relating to steam boilers and pressure vessels operating in the creep range, portable hardness testing, in-house tailored boiler maintenance technology courses, metallurgical investigations and chemical analysis of samples, as well as shavings and boiler material remnant life assessments / condition.
